The Basics of Poker
The betting phase in the game of Poker takes place between the hands of all players. During each betting interval, the dealing of cards resumes. After the final betting phase, the hand of the player with the highest ranking hand wins the pot. After the betting phase, the hands of players are revealed clockwise around the table. Depending on the variant of the game, the player who begins the process is called the “dealer”.
The game of Poker has a long history. Its history is not completely known but the game has been played in casinos for centuries. The first known mention of the word “Poker” is attributed to Jonathan H. Green, who first described the game as a game played between two to four people with a deck of twenty cards. Unlike the other two-player games, poker was played only with the Aces. It was this game that gave rise to the term “Poker”.
Poker is played using chips. The chips represent the money you bet. While you can add more chips to a game if you wish, you usually can’t cash out your chips until the game has finished. In addition to using poker chips, the game of poker has a number of other rules. For example, the dealer has a certain responsibility, such as dealing the cards to players. The dealer can also be a non-player, which is possible in a larger game.
