Different Variations of Poker

Poker

Poker is a card game that involves betting on the strength of your hand. It is a competitive game that can be played for fun or professionally, but it requires skill and strategy to win.

There are many different variations of poker, but the basic rules are similar across all versions. Cards are dealt out by the dealer, and each player takes turns betting on their hand.

C-Bet (Continuation Betting) – One of the most important tools of professional poker players, a c-bet is a good way to maintain the betting lead even when there are no made hands or strong draws in the pot. This will force your opponents to fold without a showdown, which can lead to big pots in the long run.

Slow-Playing – A deceptive play that is largely opposite to bluffing, slow-playing consists of checking or betting weakly with a strong holding and attempting to induce other players with weaker hands to call or raise their bets instead of folding.

Busted – A draw that does not complete, typically a straight or flush draw. This can happen when your opponent has an unlucky draw and you catch the right card, or when you hit a full house out on the flop.

Fish – A term used to describe the worst player at the table, a fish is a player who has a limited understanding of poker and will eat away at your bankroll by playing too aggressively.
